S.E.S.A.M.E. is proud to endorse S.1596

S.E.S.A.M.E.

Protecting Students from Sexual and Violent Predators Act has garnered bi-partisan support thanks to U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) and U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.). Senator Toomey has introduced Senate Bill 1596 to protect America’s children from sexual predators and violent criminals who have found or seek to gain employment in schools.

The Protecting Students From Sexual and Violent Predators Act would:

  • Require schools to perform background checks on every employee;

  • Stop schools from allowing sexual predators to transfer to new teaching jobs and new victims;

  • Ban schools from hiring anyone who has been convicted of any violent or sexual crime against a child.

This is common sense legislation and long overdue. S.E.S.A.M.E. is proud to endorse S.1596. We are tremendously grateful to Senators Toomey and Manchin for co-sponsoring this vitally important legislation. When passed we believe it will be one of their greatest political achievements and will have life-long positive effects on our country. In the words of Frederick Douglass, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”
